Painting Flowers in Watercolour at Bollé & Bloom

Unwind and spend a gentle few hours immersed in flowers and paint, in the greenhouse at Bollé & Bloom with painter and illustrator Helen Ridley.

For this workshop, Laura will cut a selection of seasonal flowers and foliage from the Bollé & Bloom cutting garden, set within seven acres of gardens and woodland. Gathered fresh that morning, they’ll be brought into the greenhouse and arranged throughout the space, ready for you to paint from.

Helen will guide you through a loose and expressive approach to watercolour, showing you how to paint individual stems and small arrangements with just a few confident brushstrokes. You’ll also explore a more gestural, free-flowing floral style, creating a set of hand-painted postcards to take home.

It’s a relaxed, un-pressured session - a chance to slow down, observe, and enjoy working with colour, shape and form, taking inspiration from the flowers around you.

A relaxed morning table of homemade seasonal breakfast bakes and fresh berries will be served, alongside botanical drinks inspired by the garden. Fresh coffee from the Nespresso machine and a selection of teas will be available throughout, so you can help yourself and settle in at your own pace.

All materials will be provided, and all abilities are very welcome - whether you’re a complete beginner or more experienced. There will be plenty of materials and gentle guidance, so you can take things slowly or work more freely, entirely at your own pace.

You’ll leave with your own painted pieces, and a little creative pause to take with you too.

If you’d like to take a little of the morning home with you, there may be a small selection of hand-tied bouquets freshly picked from the garden, along with a few beautiful pieces from local makers - candles, vases and botanical prints.

Located in Padworth Common, on the Berkshire - Hampshire border, Bollé & Bloom is easily accessible from Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury, while enjoying a quiet, rural setting surrounded by woodland.
